19 of Medvedev's twenty-one championships have been earned on hardcourt
A revitalized Daniil Medvedev secured his first trophy for nearly 30 months with a win over opponent Moutet in the competition final.
The athlete, a ex- world number one, has had a difficult year, managing just one match at the Grand Slams and experiencing a setback at the New York tournament.
His inconsistency on the professional circuit - and issues with his serve in particular - led to him exiting of the elite rankings and ultimately parting ways with long-time coach Cervara.
Currently training with Thomas Johansson and Goetzke, he has gradually progressed in the last few weeks - culminating in a hard-fought three-set victory over challenger Moutet.
This represents Medvedev's maiden title following the Italian tournament and initial on a hard court from spring of that year.
Victory also signifies the Russian has achieved twenty-one championships at twenty-one various tournaments.
"This marks the first occasion I'm at a competition with my both daughters together, so to secure a trophy is particularly special," stated tennis professional Daniil Medvedev.
"This title is in honour of my younger daughter Victoria, because the first title I achieved when my older daughter my daughter was born was for her."
Medvedev, the former major winner, had been defeated in his last six championship matches, featuring in Halle earlier this year.
Medvedev's retrieving play style and recurring outbursts on the playing surface had led some to question if his skill to compete at the elite level was concluded.
Yet the 29-year-old has made changes in the past month, attempting to come to the net and compete assertively, reinforced by an enhanced service.
He recovered from a break down in the first set against the difficult opponent, securing 4 of the last five points to go ahead.
The pair swapped breaks in the second set before Moutet, attempting for his initial ATP Tour championship, took control to force a decider.
Moutet rescued four early-game break points in a close third set before the champion won the break to 15 to secure the win.
Fittingly, he clinched the win with a point at the net, with Moutet failing to manage a shot after two hours and 38 minutes.
